As the first Black mayor of Kankakee, IL, Chasity Wells-Armstrong has navigated the weight of leadership, broken barriers, and faced adversity head-on. She understands what it means to stand in the fire and still lead with strength, vision, and purpose.
Her career has been dedicated to empowering women to own their power, navigate systemic challenges, and lead unapologetically. Through her work with the Mayors Innovation Project, the University of Wisconsin-Madison, and the Women Mayors Network, she has amplified the voices of women in public leadership—exposing the realities of gender bias, harassment, and the resilience required to govern.
As a panelist and thought leader with RepresentWomen, Chasity continues to champion gender equity, inclusion, and stronger representation for women in public office and leadership.
